1960年、ベン・コルブランが原住民から土地を購入しバロイダ農園を始めた。1965年、オーストラリア委任統治領パプアニューギニア自治政府が初期移住者に対し、コーヒー栽培の奨励政策を打ち出したため、ベンはコーヒー栽培を始め、東部山岳州で初めてのコーヒー生産者となった。パプアニューギニアの独立後も、50年以上にわたりコーヒー栽培を続け、現在は息子の二コルと孫のクリスが農園運営を行っている。
In 1960, Ben Colbran established Baroida Estate, becoming the first coffee producer in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea in 1965. Over 50 years later, his legacy of coffee cultivation is proudly continued today by his son, Nicol, and grandson, Chris.
